Meeting Description:

The SYNC conference is a one day mini-conference with emphasis on
Stonybrook,Yale, NYU, and CUNY graduate student participation. The conference
will feature a keynote speaker and short talks by graduate students in any
linguistic subfield.

The conference is an annual conference that serves as a platform for linguistics
graduate students and faculty from area universities to disseminate research
results, exchange ideas, and more broadly, foster a sense of community. 

Call for Papers:

Abstracts are invited for 20-minute presentations (which will be followed by 10
minute discussions) on any aspect of theoretical linguistics, sociolinguistics,
or applied linguistics. Submissions are limited to one singly authored and one
jointly authored abstract per author or two jointly authored abstracts.

Abstract Submission:

Only graduate students (of the above four and other universities) can submit
their abstracts. Anonymous abstracts should be emailed as PDF attachments to
syncmmix at gmail.com. Please use the subject ''ABSTRACT'' in your e-mail and
include the following information in the body of the message:

Subfield:

Abstract Format:

Abstracts should be limited to two pages in length, including examples and
references, with 1'' margins and no smaller than 11 point font. If for any
reason you are unable to submit your paper in the above format, please contact
the organizers (syncmmix at gmail.com).

Deadline for abstract submission: September 15, 2009
Acceptance notification: October 15, 2009
