6th Workshop on Altaic Formal Linguistics
Short Title: WAFL 6

Date: 04-Sep-2009 - 06-Sep-2009
Location: Nagoya, Japan
Contact: Hiroki Maezawa Maezawa
Contact Email: wafl6 at gcoe.lit.nagoya-u.ac.jp
Meeting URL: http://www.gcoe.lit.nagoya-u.ac.jp/~wafl6/

Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Language Family(ies): Altaic
Meeting Description:

Conference Postponed:

WAFL6, planned for May 22-24, 2009, at Nagoya University in Japan has been
postponed. This is due to the outbreak of swine flu, and the particularly
aggressive stance that the Japanese government has taken in attempting to
prevent the influenza from spreading into the country. Holding the meeting at
this point would put the participants coming from abroad at risk of being placed
in a dire situation such as quarantine, or even a last-minute cancellation of
the meeting should the situation deteriorate further.

We have rescheduled the WAFL6 meeting for September 4-6, 2009. Nagoya
University has agreed to continue to be the host for the meeting.

We understand that this will cause a great deal of inconvenience, and we regret
that we were forced to make this decision.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
