We are pleased to present FLOW (Foreign Language Opportunities in Writing),
an international conference on the theory and practice of foreign language
writing. FLOW aspires to become a long-awaited discussion forum for anyone
interested in issues related to the teaching of foreign language writing;
from primary to tertiary level, from general to academic context, from
classroom applications to composition research. The conference is organized
by the Department of Psycholinguistics and English Language Teaching,
University of Lodz, Poland.

We are proud to announce that the following distinguished scholars have
kindly agreed to give plenary talks during the conference:

John Harbord, Central European University, Chair of the European
Association for the Teaching of Academic Writing 
Ann Mott, the American University of Paris; Chair of the European Writing
Centers Association
Tatyana Yakhontova, Ivan Franko University, Kiev, Ukraine
Jan Zalewski, University of Opole, Poland

We accept contributions not only from participants interested in the theory
and research in foreign language composition, but also from those who wish
to share their experience in a practical workshop. We invite papers and
workshops in the following areas:

-Primary and secondary writing practice
-Academic writing
-Writing across the curriculum
-Integrating writing with other skills
-ESP writing
-Writing evaluation and testing
-Writing for exams
-Written discourse research
-Cross-cultural studies in text and rhetoric
-Writing process research
-Individual writer diffrences

Papers related to the above issues (or other aspects of foreign language
writing) are invited. Papers will typically last about 20 minutes, followed
by 10 minutes for questions. The deadline for abstract submission is August
31, 2009. Please send  an abstract of about 200 words (excluding
references) to flow at uni.lodz.pl, with your name and affiliation written
under the title. E-mail notifications will be sent out by  September 10, 2009.
