Description:

The Department of Classical, Middle Eastern and Asian Languages and
Cultures at Queens College, City University of New York, has authorization
to make a tenure-track appointment in Chinese Language and Linguistics at
the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in the Fall semester of 2009.

Responsibilities include overseeing and teaching in the Elementary Program
in Chinese language, teaching undergraduate courses on Chinese linguistics,
and contributing to departmental programs in Chinese and East Asian Studies
and as well as to the College's liberal arts curriculum.

Applicants should have proven experience and a demonstrated commitment to
teaching Chinese language at all levels as well as evidence of an active
research program in linguistics. Preference will be given to candidates
with a research specialty in phonology, phonetics, semantics, and/or
language acquisition. A Ph.D. and native or near-native competency in
Chinese and English are required. Preference will be given to applicants
who have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of application.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, ranging from
$41,624 to $71,974 at the rank of Assistant Professor. Excellent benefits.
