The Fifth International Conference on Modern Chinese Grammar will be held at 
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on November 28-30, 2009 and abstracts on 
any aspect of the grammar of Modern Chinese are invited. 

Call for Papers

Abstracts could be written in Chinese or English and should be limited to one A4
page. Please send 2 hard copies of the abstract (one with the author's name and
affiliation, and one without) to Ms. Zhou Juan, c/o the Organizing Committee of
the Fifth International Conference on Modern Chinese Grammar, at Department of
Chinese, Ji'nan University, Guangzhou, P. R. China (Zip code: 510632) by postal
mail, and an e-copy to the following e-mail address: jnuzhoujuan at 126.com on or
before April 15, 2009. Abstract selection is based on anonymous review.

Young scholars may apply for the competitive scholarships provided by the
organizing committee. Postgraduate students and recent graduates whose rank is
below Associate Professor are eligible to apply. Applicants should submit two
hard copies of full paper to the organizing committee (one with the author's
name and contact address, and one without) on or before April 15, 2009.

Notifications of (non)acceptance will be sent off in early July, 2009. Please

Meeting Description:

The 4th international conference 'German Linguistics in Italy' will be 
organized by the University of Rome 'La Sapienza' and the 'Istituto Italiano di 
Studi Germanici' (Rome). 

The working languages of the conference are German and Italian.

The program includes:

Four plenary speakers;
Three general sessions (Theoretical and Applied Linguistics; Language 
Teaching; Translation Studies);
A poster session;
Several workshops.

Vierte Tagung "Deutsche Sprachwissenschaft in Italien" (Rom, Februar 2010) - 
Erster Rundbrief (Tagungsankündigung) 
Liebe Kollegin, lieber Kollege, dieser Rundbrief ist die Tagungsankündigung
für die vierte Tagung "Deutsche Sprachwissenschaft in Italien", die in
Rom vom 4. bis 6. Februar 2010 stattfinden wird.

Die Tagung wird im Zwei-Jahres-Rhythmus organisiert von der Facoltà di Lettere 
e Filosofia (Philosophische Fakultät) der Universität Rom "La Sapienza"
und dem Istituto Italiano di Studi Germanici (in Zusammenarbeit mit
Institutionen wie dem Goethe-Institut Rom, der Deutschen Botschaft Rom, dem
italienischen  Germanistenverband AIG, dem Institut für Deutsche Sprache in
Mannheim, der Gesellschaft für Deutsche Sprache und dem Deutschen Akademischen
Austauschdienst).

Die Tagung ist nicht nur als Treffpunkt der in Italien tätigen germanistischen 
Linguisten gedacht, sondern stellt darüber hinaus eine Plattform dar für den 
internationalen Austausch sowohl mit der Inlandsgermanistik als auch mit
anderen Auslandsgermanistiken.

Das Tagungsprogramm sieht im Einzelnen vor:
- vier Plenarvorträge (Eva Maria Breindl - IDS Mannheim, Hans Drumbl - Bozen, 
Giovanni Gobber - Mailand, Michael Schreiber - Mainz)
- drei allgemeine Sektionen (Sprachwissenschaft u. angewandte Linguistik; 
Sprachdidaktik; Translation); 
- eine Postersession
- Arbeitsgruppen (max. 10)

Wer Interesse hat, einen Vortrag zu halten, wird alle notwendigen Informationen 
mit dem zweiten Rundbrief ('call for papers') erhalten, der für Ende April 2009
vorgesehen ist. Dieser erste Rundbrief wendet sich an diejenigen, die eine
thematisch festgelegte Arbeitsgruppe organisieren möchten. Sämtliche
Arbeitsgruppen - maximal 10 - werden zeitgleich am Freitag-Morgen stattfinden.
Es ist eine Dauer von mindestens drei bis maximal viereinhalb Stunden vorgesehen.

Der/die jeweils verantwortliche Organisator/in einer Arbeitsgruppe hat 
größtmögliche Freiheit bei der individuellen Ausgestaltung der betreffenden AG. 
Vorstellbar wäre beispielsweise eine Reihe von Vorträgen oder auch eine 
Podiumsdiskussion. Was die aktiven Teilnehmer betrifft, so sollte - im Sinne 
unserer Begegnungstagung - ein ausgewogenes Verhältnis von Inlands- und 
Auslandsgermanisten angestrebt werden.

Wer eine AG vorschlagen möchte, ist gebeten, an Claudio Di Meola
(claudio.dimeola at uniroma1.it) eine Mail zu richten mit folgenden Angaben: 
1) das Thema der AG, 
2) eine Kurzbeschreibung (ca. eine halbe Seite) plus grundlegende Bibliographie,
3) die Namen von mindestens zwei weiteren aktiven (sicheren!) Teilnehmern. 

Deadline für die AG-Vorschläge ist der 10. April 2009.
