Native Voices Endowment
Call for Proposals 2009
www.endangeredlanguagefund.org/native_voices

The Endangered Language Fund is pleased to announce the third annual grant
program of the Native Voices Endowment: A Lewis & Clark Expedition
Bicentennial Legacy Project. Grants awarded under this program are for
work on the indigenous languages contacted by the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Proposals must be from members of eligible tribes along the historic route
of the Expedition whose ancestors experienced contact with the expedition,
or whose ancestral homelands were traversed by the expedition, or whose
tribal customs or languages were recorded by the expedition, including
tribes who were removed to Oklahoma subsequent to the expedition. The list
of tribes can be found here:

http://www.endangeredlanguagefund.org/eligible_tribes.html

Proposals can also originate from tribal colleges supported by those tribes.

Proposals will be accepted for Native American language education programs,
individual study by Native American language students, and research efforts
to document and record Native American languages for future preservation
and education. Budgets can be up to $10,000 per year for one to three years.

The RFP and a list of eligible tribes are available here:
www.endangeredlanguagefund.org/native_voices.
