Wuqu' Kawoq is proud to announce the publication of our first bilingual
health manual, Tiqaq'omaj qi'. One of the first books of its kind,
Tiqaq'omaj qi' is a community health manual written in an indigenous Mayan
language (Kaqchikel, with Spanish translations). As such, we hope that it
contributes to the continued vitality of these languages and their expanded
use in all areas of public and private life.

Tiqaq'omaj qi' provides an introduction to traditional medicines and
self-care remedies for common diseases. The book is being used primarily in
midwife training classes to facilitate discussions on the safe and
effective use of plant-based remedies. Tiqaq'omaj qi' is distributed free
of charge to our community collaborators. Others interested in purchasing a
copy can do so on Amazon.com.

Wuqu' Kawoq is a registered 501 (3) (c) non-profit that works to strengthen
Mayan language and health care in Guatemala. Believing that health and
cultural vitality are inseparable, we support indigenous medical workers
and community leaders to develop Mayan language health services and
disseminate local knowledge about traditional health practices. If you find
this work valuable, we hope you'll consider making a donation. Please visit
us on the web at www.wuqukawoq.org to learn more and get involved.
