Meeting Description: 

The Department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex invites 
you to its fourth postgraduate two-day conference which will be held at the 
University of Essex on Thursday 11th - Friday 12th June 2009.

The conference aims at bringing together postgraduate students to present and 
discuss current research, results and problems from any field of linguistics.

Invited Plenary Speakers
We are pleased to announce Prof. Peter Patrick (University of Essex, UK),  Mr. 
Michael Swan and Prof. Moira Yip (University College London, UK) as this year's 
invited plenary speakers.

All presenters and attendees must pre-register for the conference by Monday 1st

Bursaries
LangUE is delighted to announce the availability of bursaries for non-Essex 
students (which is worth £30) to attend LangUE 2009. The bursary will entitle 
you to attendance at the conference for both days, along with coffee and lunch 
(please note that the bursary does not include the conference dinner).

If you would like to be considered for this offer, please send a short (around 
100 words) statement detailing the reasons why you feel you are a suitable 
candidate for a bursary to langue at essex.ac.uk by Monday 1st June 2009, 
including details of any other sources of funding that you have available to 
you. Please note that priority will be given to self funded students. 
Successful applicants will be notified by 5th June 2009.

We are pleased to also announce that we have received generous funding from the 
Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) which enables us to offer bursaries 
for AHRC-funded students. In order to receive this funding, you need to be an 
AHRC-funded student (you will need to provide proof along with your application 
for the bursary).  Please send an email to langue at essex.ac.uk by Monday 1st 
June 2009 (email subject: AHRC bursary application) with your name, 
affiliation, email address, and an estimation of the expenses incurred by your 
attendance at LangUE. You will be required to show evidence in the form of 
receipts for reimbursement.
