Description:

The Ph.D. Program in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences at The Graduate
Center of the City University of New York invites applications for a senior
speech scientist specializing in any area of basic or applied speech
perception or production research focusing on infants, children, or adults.
An interest in collaborative mentoring of students in language or hearing
science and in faculty research collaborations is desirable.
Responsibilities include establishing a state-of-the-art laboratory at The
Graduate Center, teaching doctoral courses, and supervising doctoral
research. A Ph.D. is required for this position along with a strong record
of publications, a record of extramural funding, and experience
teaching/mentoring doctoral students. The tenured appointment will be made
at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and will begin Fall 2010. A
particularly strong candidate may be nominated as a Distinguished
Professor. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The position will be open until filled, with review of applications to
begin on December 14, 2009.

Founded in 1961, the Graduate Center of the City University of New York
(CUNY) is devoted primarily to doctoral study and awards most of CUNY's
doctoral degrees. In this nationally unique consortium of over 1700 faculty
members, a core faculty of 130 Graduate Center appointments is supplemented
by over 1600 additional faculty members drawn from throughout CUNY's eleven
senior colleges and New York City's leading cultural and scientific
institutions. With four thousand doctoral students, they pursue a shared
enterprise of expanding the boundaries of knowledge in over thirty doctoral
programs and seven master's programs in the humanities, social sciences,
and sciences. The Ph.D. Program in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences
includes seven central faculty, approximately 55 full-time students, a
full-time technician, extensively equipped research laboratories, and
teaching laboratories.
