Meeting Description:

The SemDial series of workshops aims to bring together researchers working on
the semantics and pragmatics of dialogue in fields such as artificial
intelligence, computational linguistics, formal semantics/pragmatics,
philosophy, psychology, and neural science.

SemDial 2010 will be the 14th workshop in the SemDial series and it will be
organized at the Institute of Psychology (Chair of Logic and Cognitive Science),
Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU), Pozna?. AMU is one the Poland's largest
institutions of higher education, located in a historical city of Pozna?.

Call for Papers

We invite papers on all topics related to the semantics and pragmatics of
dialogue, including, but not limited to:
- models of common ground/mutual belief in communication
- modelling agents' information states and how they get updated
- multi-agent models and turn-taking
- goals, intentions and commitments in communication
- semantic interpretation in dialogues
- reference in dialogues
- ellipsis resolution in dialogues
- implicature production and reception in natural speech
- cognitive processes involved in verbal communication
- dialogue and discourse structure
- interpretation of questions and answers
- nonverbal interaction in communication
- natural language understanding and reasoning in spoken dialogue systems
- multimodal dialogue systems
- dialogue management in practical implementations
- categorisation of dialogue moves or speech acts in corpora
- designing and evaluating dialogue systems

Dates and Deadlines

1. Full 8-page papers
- Submission due: 15 March 2010
- Notification of acceptance: 12 April 2010
- Camera-ready papers due: 04 May 2010

2. 2-page poster or demo descriptions
- Submission due: 12 April 2010
- Notification of acceptance: 04 May 2010

3. SemDial 2010: June 16-18, 2010 (Wednesday-Friday)

Full papers will be in the usual 8-page, 2-column format. There will also be
poster and demo presentations. The selection of posters and demos will be based
on 2-page descriptions. Selected descriptions will be included in the
proceedings. The styles and detailed instructions needed for proper submission
preparation will be available soon on the conference website
(http://www.semdial2010.amu.edu.pl).

The best accepted papers will be invited to submit extended versions to Dialogue
& Discourse, the new open-access journal dedicated exclusively to research on
language 'beyond the single sentence' (http://www.dialogue-and-discourse.org).
