Meeting Description:

The purpose of the workshop is to study the morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics of finiteness and non-finiteness, and its place in typology and linguistic theory forming. This is a twin event with the Uralic Typology Days, taking place on November 26-27, 2009 at the Institute of the Estonian Language, Tallinn. Topics include but are not confined to:

- Finiteness and non-finiteness in linguistic typology and linguistic theory forming
- (Non)-finiteness, nominal inflection, and verb forms
- Relationships between (non)-finiteness, functional categories, and other linguistic phenomena across languages
- (Non)-finiteness phenomena in related languages
- (Non-)-finiteness in historical sources and in the history of language
- (Non)-finite verb forms in linguistic corpora
- (Non)-finiteness in acquisition

Call for Papers:

Hereby we are inviting contributions to the talk and poster sessions of the workshop. Submissions should describe original work, completed or in progress, be anonymous (no authors, affiliations or addresses, and no explicit self-reference), be no longer than two (2) pages of A4 including examples and references, and be in PDF format. A separate file should contain the title, the author's name, and affiliation. 

The deadline for sending an abstract is September 25, 2009. Please send your abstact to Iris Metsmägi  iris.metsmagi at eki.ee. You will be informed about the acceptance by September 30, 2009.
