Description:

The Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM), the Faculty of Letters of the
University of Lausanne, Switzerland and the University Medical Centre of
Lausanne (CHUV) invite applications for the position of:

Associate Professor in Sociolinguistics (100%) specialising in
sociolinguistics of the physician/patient communication and in the study of
the relationships between speech and social behaviour.

Candidates should have expertise in interdisciplinary research on topics
such as migration and health, interpretation in the field of medicine and
linguistic aspects of prevention. 

Candidates should have a doctorate (or a title judged equivalent), have
published in peer-reviewed journals, have an important teaching record in
medical humanities and in a Faculty of Letters and have a professional
experience of several years either in a medical or in an interdisciplinary
service. 

The position includes teaching in the postgraduate training at the FBM,
teaching and research in sociolinguistics at the Faculty of Letters,
management of dissertations and theses, development of interdisciplinary
research programmes on the verbal interactions in the field of medicine and
promotion of synergies between speech analysis and medical humanities in
common projects of both Faculties.

The position is anchored in the Psychiatric Liaison Service of the
Department of Psychiatry of the CHUV.

The willingness to collaborate with other clinical and basic science
disciplines and to participate in national and international research
networks or consortia is of prime importance.
