Jointly organized by the MAPLL organization committee, the Technical 
Group of Thought and Language of the Institute of Electronics (TL), 
Language Science Lab (Graduate School of Humanities, Tokyo 
Metropolitan University), Center for Brain Science of Language Acquisition 
and Language Learning (Hiroshima University).

Date: August 5 (Thu)-6 (Fri), 2010

All the morning sessions and part of afternoon sessions on August 5 are
given in Japanese. English sessions start in the afternoon on August 5 and
continue throughout on August 6. A poster session is scheduled in the
evening of August 5.

Call for Papers

MAPLL2010 invites submissions for paper (oral) or poster presentations in
any aspects of processing and learning of human language. Studies from a
wide range of perspectives will be considered including, but not exclusive
to, those focusing on behavioral, neural, corpus data of adults, children,
native and L2 speakers. The language of interest is not limited to Japanese.

Abstract Submission: Please submit an abstract (300-400 words in English) 
by May 17, 2010 the IEICE Technical Committee online submission system. 
Paper (oral) presentations are to be 20 minutes long and followed by 10 
minutes discussion. Poster presentations are scheduled in the evening on 
August 5th accompanied with a short oral presentation (5 - 7 minutes). All 
presentations should be given in English. Since the number of slots for oral 
presentations is limited, some of the abstract can be accepted only for 
poster presentation.

the Technical Committee on Thought and Language (TL).
-Please select your preference for presentation type (paper (oral) or

-If you have command of Japanese, please use the Japanese submission 
site and submit the Japanese title and abstract as well as the English title
and abstract.

Submission of Proceedings Papers: All presenters will be invited to submit a
paper (up to 6 pages) to the proceedings to appear in The Technical 
Report of Language and Thought of the Institute of Electronics, Information 
and Communication Engineers (circulates domestically in Japan). Deadline 
for manuscript submission is July 2, 2010. The copyright of the proceedings
papers will belong to the Institute of Electronics, Information and 
Communication Engineers, but it will not block your submitted work from
being published elsewhere.

Registration: Registration becomes possible through the MAPLL2010 web-
site from late May. Pre-registration is not necessary but is highly 
encouraged. Drink and light meal are provided at the poster session in the 
evening of August 5 and the expense (Students, 1,000JPY; Others, 
2,000JPY) should be paid at the registration desk.
