Description:

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Iowa is
searching for a visiting assistant or visiting associate professor in
Hispanic linguistics for the academic year 2010-2011. Applicants should
have primary research and teaching interests in either phonology or second
language acquisition. Appointment as a visiting assistant professor
requires the Ph.D. by August 2010; appointment as a visiting associate
professor requires a previous appointment at the rank of associate
professor. The successful candidate must show evidence of an active
research program and experience in teaching, and must be able to contribute
to general offerings in the area of Hispanic linguistics, as well as
advanced undergraduate courses and/or graduate courses in the areas of
specialization.  Undergraduate courses are taught primarily in Spanish. The
teaching load for the visiting position is three courses each semester.
