Special Qualifications: Special Qualifications:
- BA or MA preferred but college students will be considered  
- Preferred languages in addition to native-like fluency in English: Spanish, Chinese, Japanese
- Preferred major: psychology, cognitive science, or linguistics
- Preferred coursework: cognitive psychology, experimental psychology,statistics, developmental psychology, basic syntax, cognitive science, language acquisition
- Preferred research experience: previous laboratory research, if possible including transcribing speech; work with two-year-olds; psycholinguistics
- Preferred computer skills: basic word-processing skills, database management,graph and slide presentation, modeling, website maintenance; ability to program in E-prime or similar experimental design packages
- Preferred statistical skills: knowledge of computer packages such as SPSS
- Preferred other skills: videotaping and incorporation of videos into slides and other formats <br />

Description:
Year long internship positions are available in the Language Acquisition Research Center (LARC). This is a great opportunity for those taking time between undergraduate and graduate work to gain more experience. 

LARC investigates first and second language acquisition in young children and adults, as well as artificial language learning, computer modeling of acquisition, and language use. We use a wide variety of techniques and materials to answer basic questions about syntactic competence and performance.For more information about LARC, see our website. 

Interns on the projects at LARC assist in:
- the recording, transcribing, and analyzing of child and adult learners' spontaneous speech
- the development of materials for use in production and comprehension tasks
- performing studies with child and adult participants
- analyzing spontaneous speech data and experimental data
- recruiting child and adult participants
