We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at
http://linguistlist.org/LL/posttolinguist.cfm.

Dear LINGUIST community,

I am currently conducting an online research project aimed at
investigating how certain properties of native language orthography
influence the ways individuals spell in English as a second language
(ESL). More specifically, I am interested in native speakers of Danish,
Italian and Russian who currently live in Denmark, Italy and Russia and
have intermediate to advanced ESL proficiency. In particular, I am
interested in testing *undergraduate and graduate students* of various
specializations.

I would like to invite everyone who qualifies to participate and also
kindly ask the readers to forward this information to qualified students
who might be interested in participating. Please find a brief description
of the study below:

- This is an online study that can be completed from any computer with
high-speed internet.
- The study consists of 5 spelling tasks and a quick survey and takes
about 35 minutes.
- Every 15th participant wins a prize: a yearly subscription to an
educational English language magazine (e.g. National Geographic)
- The study website is: http://languagetest.dyndns.org/ad.htm

Should you need additional information about the project, please feel
free to contact me at nld26 at cornell.edu.

Thank you for your help!
