Linguistic Field(s): Computational Linguistics; Semantics; Syntax

Meeting Description:

FCG's linguistic perspective is in line with research in cognitive linguistics
and construction grammar. Like many other contemporary theories, its underlying
representation is based on feature structures and unification. It is currently
the only computational construction grammar formalism that can handle both
parsing and production using the same set of constructions. So far, FCG has
mainly been applied in research on the emergence and evolution of grammatical
phenomena. This tutorial provides an interactive introduction to FCG through
both lectures and hands-on courses. It is open to all researchers who are
interested in construction grammar formalisms and have sufficient background to
allow active participation. The ideal participant would be familiar with the
relevant linguistic theories as well as techniques from symbolic programming,
computational linguistics and artificial intelligence.

Registration deadline has been extended to 30 April 2010!
