Description:

The Department of English at the University of North Carolina Wilmington
invites applications for TWO tenure-track assistant professorships of
English with a concentration in linguistics, beginning August 2011. A PhD
in Linguistics or a closely related field and a demonstrated commitment to
teaching and research are required. The strongest candidates will have
experience in teaching and will be prepared to engage in research as well
as to contribute to departmental and university service. Responsibilities
include teaching undergraduate courses addressing our department's language
requirement and developing graduate courses on the English language and/or
linguistics. The typical teaching load for research-active faculty is three
courses per semester; course listings and descriptions can be found at the
department URL above. The Department of English at UNCW is committed to
teaching courses in the university's core curriculum and to extending
opportunities for faculty members to develop and teach courses within their
specialties.
