Meeting Description:

The Northwest Linguistics Conference (NWLC) is an annual conference for graduate
students in linguistics to share their work in a friendly atmosphere, and meet
colleagues from other universities, both locally and internationally. The venue
rotates on a four-year cycle, between Simon Fraser University, the University of
Victoria, the University of Washington, and the University of British Columbia.
The Department of Linguistics at Simon Fraser University is honoured to host
NWLC 2010 on May 8th to 9th, 2010. 

Call for Papers

We invite researchers to submit abstracts for oral presentation on any area of
linguistics (including, but not limited to, syntax, semantics, phonetics,
phonology, first and second language acquisition, sociolinguistics, historical
linguistics, psycho/neurolinguistics, computational linguistics). Presentations
will be 20 minutes followed by a 10-minute discussion period. Submissions by
graduate students are given priority. Submissions are limited to 1 individual
and 1 joint abstract per author, or 2 joint abstracts per author. Proceedings
from this conference will be published in a special edition of SFU Working
Papers in Linguistics.

Abstracts must be at most one page long (8.5" x 11") with one-inch margins on
all sides and typed in at least 11-point font. A second page is permitted for
data and references.

Abstracts must be anonymous (i.e., do not include your name or reference to
yourself in the file name or on the abstract or reference pages).

Abstracts must be submitted electronically in PDF format, using the electronic
submission website accessible here:

Deadline for submission is 5:00 pm PST, March 10th, 2010. Notification of
acceptance will be sent out at the beginning of April. Any questions should be
