Meeting Description:

We are pleased to announce the 19th International Postgraduate Linguistics
Conference (PLC19) at Manchester University and Salford University. 

The aim of the Conference is to bring together postgraduates from within the
various areas of the discipline of Linguistics and to allow them to present
papers to their peers. It is hoped that the two days will be rewarding for all
in attendance, both in sharing their research findings and establishing new
contacts.

Invited Plenary Speakers:
Dr Oliver Bond (School of Oriental and African Studies)
Professor David Denison (University of Manchester)
Dr Paul Rowlett (University of Salford) 

Call for Papers

Conference Theme
The theme of this year's conference is Language Variation and Change, which
embodies numerous research areas and emphasises the value of both synchronic and
diachronic studies. We therefore invite papers on:

- language contact,
- historical linguistics,
- language variation (in Syntax, Morphology, Semantics, Pragmatics, Phonology,
Phonetics etc.)
- and general language change.

We invite abstracts to be submitted by May 15th 2010. Abstracts should be 250
words or less and be sent as an attachment to the e-mail. The e-mail message
should contain your name, affiliation and the qualification towards which you
are currently working, the title of the research, and keywords. Please clearly
indicate how your paper contributes to the general theme. Furthermore, please
let us know whether you would like to give an oral or a poster presentation.

Successful entrants will be notified by June 15th 2010.

Presentation Guidelines
Presentations will be allocated 30 minutes (20 minutes presentation and 10
minutes for questions). Dedicated poster sessions will take place throughout the
conference.

Conference Registration
The fee of the conference will be  £30.00, and will include lunch and
refreshments during both days of the conference.
