Meeting Description:

The scope of the conference has typically been very broad, and we hope to draw
together once again a wide range of researchers and professionals in the area of
writing. The aim of the SIG Writing conferences is to promote interaction among
researchers (linguists, cognitive and social psychologists, educational and
developmental specialists) interested in understanding the cognitive, social,
and developmental processes involved in writing, including the design of writing
instruction in various educational settings and the exploration of the functions
of writing in different social and institutional contexts. 

Call for Papers

Dear writing researchers, time flies - and we are already in the year 2010, the
year of the next SIG Writing Conference. This means that the deadline for
submissions is also approaching fast. Again, we kindly invite you to present
your research results to the international community of writing researchers.
Here are some specified bits of information about the forthcoming conference:

- Electronic submission forms are now available on the conference website in
order to make submissions as easy as possible. 350 words abstracts will be required.

- All submissions will be doubly reviewed by members of an international
scientific committee of experts.

- For your motivation to make the trip to Heidelberg, but also as a promotion
towards new participants of this conference, you will find an invitation trailer
on the conference website as well as from the direct link:

- We strongly invite you to organize symposia by combining three to four papers
on a certain topic from the very outset of your submissions. In order to
facilitate this submission procedure for both convenors and participants, we
organized the submission requirements such that the papers of a symposium will
be submitted by their authors themselves, thus taking paper collection load from
the convenors, and will be considered as individual paper submissions in case
that the whole symposium should not receive the reviewers' acceptance.

- We are happy to announce that Deborah McCutchen from University of Washington
agreed to give the keynote lecture.
