We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at

Dear (socio)linguists,

For the purpose of preparing a sociolinguistic study of the academies of
Hebrew, Yiddish and Esperanto in comparison with other language academies,
I need your help in locating two kinds of studies on language academies,
especially on their activities: 1) typological studies on language
academies; 2) surveys of individual language academies. I have looked for
the former in English in vain, so I am planning to do my own typology based
on the latter.

The preferred language of publication is English, but if there is no
important study in this language, I can also cope with German, French,
Russian, Japanese, Italian and Spanish.

I will post here a summary of references I will hopefully receive from you.
I myself will probably add references on Hebrew, Yiddish and Esperanto.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.
