Linguistic Field(s): Historical Linguistics; Semantics; Syntax

Call Deadline: 20-Jan-2010

Meeting Description:

In the course of the last several decades, various formally and functionally
oriented linguistic theories have been developed which primarily have a
synchronic scope, but also provide new and unexplored perspectives in the realm
of diachronic linguistics.

The main aim of this workshop is to bring together senior as well as junior
researchers whose research interests concern diachronic verbal semantics and
syntax working within different theoretical frameworks in order to discuss
theoretical and methodological problems. In this context, verbal semantics and
syntax is understood in a broad sense as to include lexical as well as
morphosyntactic topics provided that they have a diachronic perspective.

Call for Papers

Papers aiming at developing new theoretical approaches to the study of
diachronic semantics and syntax on the basis of language-specific or
cross-linguistic investigations are particularly welcome.

Please submit applications with a title and a short description of the topic to be
discussed no later than January 20th 2010.
