Keynote Speakers:
- Alec Couros
Dr. Alec Couros is a professor of educational technology and media and the
Coordinator of Information and Communications Technology at the Faculty of
Education, University of Regina, Canada. Alec works with undergraduate and
graduate students to develop their understanding and competencies in working
with technology and media in K12 environments. He has given hundreds of
workshops and presentations, nationally and internationally, on topics such as
open education, social & networked learning, instructional design, digital
citizenship and critical media literacy. More about Alec can be found at his

- Ismael Peña-López
Dr. Ismael Peña-López, PhD in the Information and Knowledge Society, is a
lecturer at the Open University of Catalonia, School of Law and Political
Science, working in the field of Public Policies for Development, with a special
focus on ICT (so, ICT4D, digital divide and so). His research interests include:
- Digital Divide, e-Readiness, ICT4D
- ICTs in development cooperation, nonprofit technology, online volunteering
- e-Inclusion, digital capacitation
- e-Learning, e-Portfolios
- Open Access, Open Science, Access to Knowledge

- Jordi Adell
Dr. Adell is an Educationalist, and PhD in Education. He works for the
University Jaume I where he is Head of the Centre of Education and New
Technologies and associate professor in Educational Technology in the Department
of Education. He has published numerous articles and he is a well recognized
speaker and researcher specializing in technology enhanced learning in schools. 

Call for Papers

We welcome the submission of abstracts for proceedings papers, short papers,
symposia, workshops and demonstrations. These can be submitted electronically
through http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ple2010 Full details may be

Conference themes include (but are not limited to):
- Theories and frameworks for Personal Learning Environments
- Technologies and software for developing Personal Learning Environments
- PLEs in Practice (case studies, approaches to using PLEs)
- Educational institutions, change and PLEs
- Pedagogical approaches to managing personal learning
- The development and management of Personal Learning Networks Mobile PLEs and
augmented reality
- Supporting informal and contextual learning
- Using PLEs in organisations
- Using PLEs for Work based learning

You are also invited to submit proposals for conference activities in other
formats. These could include cafe or debate sessions. We are especially looking
for originality and relevancy of ideas and for creative proposals, in form and
content in addition to the traditional, paper presentation abstracts. We welcome
submissions and ideas for videos, photos, podcasts, cartoons, posters - or any
other kind of artifacts you can think of.

All proposals will be subject to a peer review process and all proposals
accepted will be published electronically with an ISBN number. In addition we
are intending to publish a  special edition of a journal based on selected
conference papers. Please note that all submissions should be licensed under a
Creative Commons licence.

Each registered participant may submit one paper or contribution to the conference.

The deadline for proposals is March 26th, 2010. You will be notified if your
submission has been accepted by April 30th. For those submitting proceedings
papers, the deadline for the receipt of the full paper is May 28th.

The conference will take place in Citilab, an Open Innovation Centre for the
Community in Cornellà, Barcelona.
