Meeting Description:

The annual conference on the history of linguistics for researchers from all
over the world. Papers on any topic in the history of linguistics are welcome,
but this year there is a particular focus on biography in the history of
linguistics and on the work and world of J. R. Firth. The Leslie Seiffert Leture
will be delivered by Prof. John Joseph who will talk about his biography of
Saussure. 

Call for Papers

The event will start on the afternoon of 9 September and will run until lunch on
Saturday 11 September. Papers are invited on any topic within the History of
Linguistics, but this year papers on biography in the History of Linguistics and
on the work and world of J. R. Firth (1890—1960) are particularly welcome, as
are ideas for themed sessions or panel discussions.

All proposals, including title and abstract (max. 250 words) should be sent to
Louise Sørensen (l.sorensen at shef.ac.uk) by 31 March 2010. Notification of
acceptance of proposals will be made by the end of April.
