Full Title: English Language and Linguistics

Linguistic Field(s): English; General Linguistics

Call Deadline: 01-Jan-2012

English Language and Linguistics now appears in three issues per year, of
which the July issue is usually thematic, with guest editors. Previous and
forthcoming topics for special issues include:

Syntactic variation in English
The future
Degree modifiers
Re-evaluating the Celtic Hypothesis
Noun Phrases in English

The editors are now seeking proposals for special issues in 2012, 2013 and
2014 and would welcome suggestions falling within the general areas of
interest of the journal. Expressions of interest should be sent to either
of the editors at the contact details below, and we encourage an initial,
informal discussion. A full proposal should then follow: this should be 2-3
pages in length and should include a summary of the area being addressed;
an indication of why a treatment of this theme is timely; an outline of the
authors and papers to be included; and a timetable for article submission
and review, including proposed year of publication. If the special issue is
to follow from a conference session or workshop, this should be made clear.
There is no closing date for these expressions of interest, given the
rolling programme of publication for special issues, but for the 2012 issue
we do require proposals by the end of August 2010. We look forward to
hearing from you!
