Meeting Description:

The staff of the Laboratório de Línguas Indígenas (Indigenous languages lab) of the University of Brasilia is very happy in hosting for the second time a Macro-Jê Meeting and for the third time an International Meeting on Tupian Languages and Cultures, since these meetings have in the last years become two important forums for the discussion of scientific research on language and culture of the Macro-Je and Tupian peoples and have enhanced the interaction of linguists with anthropologists, archeologists, and other scholars, thereby stimulating a rich amplification of the knowledge on Macro-Je and Tupian languages and peoples.

In this opportunity we congratulate Dr. Ludoviko dos Santos on his initiative in organizing the Macro-Jê forum ten years ago. The Indigenous Languages Lab, which is a specific place in the University of Brasilia for the study of the Indian languages under the perspective of anthropological linguistics, with the realization of the 7th Macro-Jê will commemorate the ten years of this scientific forum.
