Job Location: California, USA
Web Address: http://linguistics.stanford.edu/

Job Rank: Assistant Professor

Specialty Areas: General Linguistics

Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Stanford University announces a search to
fill two full-time tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant
Professor level, with a starting date of September 1, 2011. Applications
are invited in any area of linguistics. Duties include teaching and
advising at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and maintaining an
active research program. Candidates should hold the PhD in linguistics or a
related field by the starting date.

The Department particularly values research that integrates insights from
different subfields of linguistics and from other disciplines, bringing a
variety of types of evidence to bear on the development of theories of
language and language use. The Department gives priority to the overall
originality and promise of the candidate's research rather than the area of
specialization within linguistics.

Applications should be submitted in electronic format only, to
lingjobs at stanford.edu by the indicated deadline. All supporting documents
should be sent as individual files in PDF format (i.e., not zipped), and
can be submitted in a single email message or multiple emails if necessary.
Applications should include a cover letter addressed to Stanford
Linguistics Search Committee, a CV, statements of research and teaching
interests, teaching evaluations (if available), up to three representative
samples of published or unpublished work, and the names and e-mail
addresses of three or four references. All applicants should also arrange
for their letters of reference to be sent via email, in PDF format,
directly to the Search Committee at lingjobs at stanford.edu

Review of applications will begin on Monday, November 1, 2010 and will
continue until the position is filled. For fullest consideration,
candidates are strongly encouraged to submit their applications and all
supporting materials by November 1, 2010.

Please direct all inquiries to lingjobs at stanford.edu

The Department's web page is: http://linguistics.stanford.edu/

Stanford University is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to
increasing the diversity of its faculty. It welcomes nominations of, and
applications from, women and members of minority groups, as well as others
who would bring additional dimensions to the university's research and
teaching missions.
