Meeting Description:

We are pleased to announce that the Pragmatics Society of Japan is 
accepting an application of paper presentation for 13th Annual Conference 
to be held at Kansai University in Osaka Prefecture on Dec. 4th and 5st of 
2010. 

The Special Lecture will be given by the invited speaker, Dr. Malcolm 
Coulthard, Aston University, UK). We also planning to organize a special 
symposium, spoken by three invited speakers and a designated discussant, 
titled 'Pragmatics from Language Function.'

Please note that applicants should specify the area of the presentation and 
the language(English or Japanese) you are going to use in the 
presentation, and give 5 key phrases which may characterize the paper.

Submission of Abstract:
Abstracts for paper presentation are invited on any aspects of pragmatic 
analysis from a variety of fields, including historical pragmatics, cognitive 
pragmatics, interface of pragmatics and other disciplines, interlanguage 
pragmatics, social pragmatics, comparative or contrastive pragmatics 
studies. All abstracts (which must be in English) must be submitted 
electrically, as attachment files in MS Word format (and if possible in PDF 
format) to the following address: psj.presentation at gmail.com

The guidelines for abstract submission:
1. Authors should not include their names or otherwise reveal their identity 
anywhere in the abstract title.
2. The length of an abstract should be approximately 500 words, not 
including references, figures, and/or graphs. The maximum length of the 
abstract is two pages.
3. The (principal) author's full name must be used as a filename.
4. The body of the e-mail message must contain the following information:
a. title of a paper
b. name(s) of author(s)?Please write your family name in BOLD LETTERS?
c. affiliation(s) of author(s)
d. e-mail address(es) of author(s)
e. postal address of the (principal) author
f. type of paper presentation: lecture, or poster, or workshop (accepted only 
for a group application with three or four presentations)
5. The header (subject) of the e-mail should be ''Abstract Submission for 
11th Annual Conference of PSJ''.
6. To ensure proper review, applicants are asked to specify the area(s) of 
pragmatic research addressed by the paper, by choosing one or two from 
the list below:
1. deixis and reference
2. pragmatic inference
3. speech act
4. politeness and socio-linguistic approaches
5. cognitive linguistic approaches
6. relevance theory
7. pragmatics and grammar
8. discourse analytic approaches
9. CA , ethnomethodology 
10. historical pragmatics
11. others

7. Applicants are also asked to give 5 key phrases which may help 
characterize the paper.
