Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Call Deadline: 30-Sep-2010

Meeting Description:

StuTS ([?t?ts]) stands for student conference on linguistics, and this is what
it is: a conference organized by students and for students of linguistics in
any of its flavours. At the same time the StuTS hosts the federal convention
of student associations in linguistic departments. The StuTS exists since
1987 and is organized in a different location each semester. It offers a rich
programme of talks on many different topics pertaining to linguistics, cultural
events for participants and the possibility to get to know nice people. The
conference hosts presentations in both German and English. More
information on the StuTS and its history can be found on
http://stuts.de/about.html (German)

Call For Papers

The StuTS (student conference on linguistics) represents a forum for
students of linguistics in all its shades and varieties. It offers students an
opportunity to present research projects and results to a wider audience,
opening up the possibility of fruitful discussion and exchange of ideas with
people interested in similar and adjacent areas of research.

There are two possible forms for the presentation/discussion of your
submissions:

Talks

In order for the conference to be of interest for all sorts of students, from
undergraduates who just started their studies to advanced and graduate
students, we want to encourage a broad spectrum of submissions. They
can be based on bachelor, master or other theses, but we also welcome
submissions springing from work done in any of your courses or from your
own research initiative. The topics may pertain to all branches of linguistic
research: general and theoretical, computational, clinical, psycho- and
neurolinguistics as well as (linguistic aspects of) philological studies of
individual languages. There are 45 and 60 min slots available, including 15
min for discussion respectively.

Workshops

It is possible to hold a workshop in order to interactively present content or
to jointly develop ideas. This might include discussions on a topic, work in
groups, methodological tutorials etc. A workshop is based on interaction
between the referee and all the participants, and should be clearly distinct
from a talk in this respect. The duration of a workshop should not exceed 60
min including the final discussion.

If you want to hold a talk or workshop, please send an email with an
abstract in plain text format (if you need another format, please notify us)
and the subject: ''Abstract: [title/topic] [duration]'' to register at 48.stuts.eu.
We will try to accomodate all submissions, but in case this is impossible due
to time restrictions, we will have to make a selection. You will be notified if
you have been admitted. In your registration, please remember to fill in the
information about your contribution in the appropriate place.

It is possible to hold a talk or offer a workshop even if you have already
registered. In that case, please contact us on the above email address.

The deadline for submissions is September 30 2010, but we highly
encourage earlier submissions for organisatory reasons.
