Dear Subscribers,

As a not-for-profit academic organization in the US, primary
funding for The LINGUIST List is generated by private contributors.
Without subscriber donations, our organization would not exist.

In years past, only a small number of our subscribers have donated
during our annual fund drive. It is my hope that this year a greater
number of readers contribute, helping to ensure the survival of
LINGUIST while reducing the financial burden that often falls to
just a few donors.

Please consider making a donation of any amount - even $25 or $50
would be helpful. Please urge your colleagues, students and friends
to do the same!

Making a donation to The LINGUIST List through our website is easy.
To donate, please visit:

Your contributions allow The LINGUIST List to continue to provide
FREE global access to services for linguists, language researchers
and students. The LINGUIST List works to provide you, our readers,
with timely information including:

- New book reviews
- more published than the leading print journals
- Job announcements in both the academic and commercial sectors
- Updates on Conferences and Calls for Papers
- Funding sources for students and scholars alike

The LINGUIST List also develops and maintains FREE, online digital
services including:

- EasyAbstracts (EasyAbs), an online abstract submission and review
facility for conference organizers
- A Directory of Linguists, containing over 20,000 entries
- Searchable database of 455 journal titles, 550 publishers,
bibliographic references and abstracts of 7,500 books and 2,500
academic papers
- Links to free software, special fonts and corpora

Donating to The LINGUIST List keeps our services available to you,
the members of the linguistics community:

Your contributions keep our organization alive and support our
commitment to develop and maintain free, accessible resources
for all linguists.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return
(U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact
your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple
administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if your company
operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
