The journal Sociolinguistic Studies (Equinox, London; 3 issues/year, paper
and online edition) seeks a Book Review Editor. Our journal wishes to
review as many new titles as possible, and also to expand the number of
review essays.

About the Journal:

Sociolinguistic Studies is a peer-reviewed International Journal that takes
an ecumenical approach to the different schools, methodological principles
or research orientations within sociolinguistic research and also accepts
contributions from related fields such as pragmatics, discourse analysis,
conversational analysis, interactional linguistics, language acquisition
and socialization, linguistic anthropology, ethnomethodology and the
ethnography of communication. Sociolinguistic Studies also pays special
attention to minority language and cultures, language contact and change,
language maintenance, shift and loss, language and social inequalities and
language planning and policy.

Call for Review's Editor:

The Book Review Editor's role entails a good knowledge of the field. This
Editor will be responsible for:

- Requesting catalogues and books from the Publishers for review
- Selecting the more important and interesting books of each catalogue
- Commissioning book reviews and review essays from appropriate scholars
- Ensuring the review author receive the book
- Liaise with the review authors regarding progress and deadlines
- Consider review submissions and eventually communicate recommendations to
the author
- Revise the final versions before submit them
- Submit reviews to the journal website in the deadline for each issue
(note that the journal works only with electronic submissions)
- Revise the first proofs of the Reviews section
- Ensuring the review authors receive a copy or PDF of their edited text.
