1. General Presentation
The 5th edition of the International Colloquia organized by the 'Intercultural
Communication and Literature' Research Centre coordinated by Faculty of Letters,
'Dunarea de Jos' University of Galati will take place at 4-5 june 2010.

By its interest in the Ideological and Cultural Openings within the
Post-totalitarian Milieu, the colloquia intends to display specific means of
interpreting literature as well as the contemporary theoretical methods of
approaching literary discourse.

The analysis focuses on the postcolonial, post-totalitarian epoch when the
political /ideological /social factor invaded the cultural space, forming
various generations in the spirit of various dynamic, even problematic models.
The present colloquia aims at tracing, in an interdisciplinary approach, in
already acknowledged historical and political stages, the effects of the change
in value hierarchy and the extent to which the Romanian /Western literary system
experienced this change at the level of model projection, through the selection
and 'valorising of the literary legacy' or through the imposition of new
ideology models and value scales. The silence or even the blame on a great
number of writers and significant names in culture, selective re-publication on
politicizing criteria, or the distortion of the meaning of the work through
dogmatic/ideological interpretations, all these functioned as aggressively upon
forming generations. In this perspective, the main target of the debate is the
accomplishment of an integrated research, having as a novelty element the double
perspective, literary and critical, regarding the pressure of the political /
ideological / social factor upon the reflection of literature in the cultural
milieu of the post-totalitarian milieu and its impact on the social model, with
focus on the extent to which the critical / literary discourse revives ' the
literary legacy', or the imposition of new ideology models and value scales.
