Supporting Institution: Texas A&M University - Commerce,  Center for Applied
Linguistics

Support Description: One 5 year Ph.D. Research Assistantship is available from
August 2010 at the Center for Applied Linguistics in the Department of
Literature and Languages at Texas A&M University - Commerce.

The assistantship covers tuition fees for two courses per semester and a stipend
of $10,000 annually.  The candidate will be expected to pursue Ph.D. research in
line with the research interests of the center. 

The Applied Linguistics Center at Texas A&M University-Commerce is now seeking
an application for graduate training in our lab.  Research will begin in Fall
2010 with Dr. Lucy Pickering examining multi-modal analyses of spoken
conversational discourse and the generation of computer platforms that will
permit this analysis. We are looking for highly motivated candidates with an MA
in a related subject.  Preferred interests include:

Familiarity with the PRAAT program
Familiarity with video- and audio-recorded collection of data
Interest in discourse and prosodic analysis
Competence in French

We must receive a statement of interest, CV, names & contact information for
three references.  Acceptance is conditional on admission by the Graduate School
and the department of Literature and Languages and is subject to all their
requirements.
