ANNOUNCEMENT OF A FULL-TIME TENURED FACULTY POSITION IN ENGLISH

Applicants are invited to apply for a full-time faculty position in English
in the Center for Language Studies. The Center for Language Studies has a
long history of being one of Hokkaido's top language training centers and
at this time we are looking for a proven teacher and scholar to join us.
Prospective applicants should refer to the following:

Position:
Full-time tenured associate professor for the Department of Modern
Languages (English section) in the Center for Language Studies

Field:
Specializing in Applied Linguistics (Language Teaching) or Sociolinguistics

Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, or
closely-related field. Applicants should otherwise have equivalent
qualifications
2. Ability sufficient to teach English (and related content subjects) in
English
3. Sufficient command of Japanese to pursue administration duties such as
participating in faculty meetings and coordinating teaching practicum
4. A demonstrated commitment to professional and program development

Teaching Responsibilities:
The appointee will be expected to teach English in the undergraduate
program (including evening classes), and English teaching methodology,
communication in English, English phonetics and phonology in the
undergraduate and graduate programs. Other beneficial skills would include
interest in materials development, curriculum development and/or language
testing.

Period of Appointment:
The successful applicant will be required to take up duties on April 1, 2011.

(3) A list of papers and publications
(4) Three most important research publications. In addition, digital

approach to English education at the university level in Japan
6) Two letters of recommendation

Salary and Benefits:
The successful candidate will be paid in line with the pay scale of Otaru
