Description:

The Faculty of Humanities at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen invites
applications for a level W2 professorship in linguistics (theories of
grammar) at the Department of English, starting as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will be responsible for academic duties in
research and teaching in linguistics (theories of grammar). A research
focus on syntax will be expected.

Candidates are required to have proven experience in academic teaching. A
Habilitation or equivalent qualification would be an asset. The ideal
applicant will be able to cooperate in linguistic and interdisciplinary
research clusters, specifically in the Courant Center "Text Structures" and
in interdepartmental research on interfaces in linguistics. We also expect
engagement in PhD supervision in various interdepartmental PhD programs;

The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of
linguistic curricula at the Faculty of Humanities. Active participation in
academic administration will be expected. The successful applicant will
take responsibility for the language instructors' (Lektoren) practical
language programme at the Department of English.

The formal requirements for an appointment as a tenured professor are in
accordance with the legislation of the State of Lower Saxony (§ 25,
Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz). Appointments will be made by the
university according to the laws of Lower Saxony. Please contact us for the
