Meeting Description:

The 5th annual Change and Variation in Canada (CVC V) workshop will be held at the University of Victoria May 14-15, 2011. This student-led event will bring together researchers working within a variationist framework on Canadian language varieties or at Canadian institutions. 

The plenary speaker for the 2011 meeting is James Walker, York University: 'The Forest or the Trees? Lexical and Individual-speaker Effects in Linguistic Variation'.

Le cinquième atelier annuel Changement et variation au Canada (CVC V) aura lieu à l'Université de Victoria les 14 et 15 mai 2011. Organisé par des étudiants, cet événement réunira des chercheurs travaillant dans le cadre variationniste à un établissement canadien ou sur une variété de langue parlée au Canada.

La conférence plénière du colloque de 2011 sera livrée par James Walker, Université York: 'The Forest or the Trees? Lexical and Individual-speaker Effects in Linguistic Variation'. 

Call for Papers:

/Appel aux communication

Students are particularly encouraged to submit abstracts.

Presentations (in English or French) will be 20 minutes long, followed by a 10-minute question period. Abstracts should be no more than 300 words (not including title and references) and should be submitted to cvcv (at) uvic (dot) ca by Sunday, March 13, 2011.

Please submit an anonymous version of the abstract in PDF or Word format.

The subject heading of the e-mail message must indicate: CVC Abstract Submission.

The body of the e-mail must include all the following information:

Title
Name(s) of the presenter(s)
Department and affiliation of each presenter
Telephone number and e-mail address of each presenter
Technology requirements*

*We will provide an LCD projector and speakers for PowerPoint presentations. If using your own laptop, please ensure you have all the correct connectors, as we may not have them available.
