Description:

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at the University of
Oregon seeks to fill a tenure-track position in comparative Korean/Japanese
linguistics at the assistant professor level. The area of specialization is
open; however, since the department is building a new program in East Asian
linguistics, preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated
scholarship in historical linguistics and competence in teaching language
pedagogy courses. The successful candidate will oversee the development of
our Korean language program as well as teach linguistics courses at the
undergraduate and graduate levels. Required are a Ph.D. in an appropriate
discipline by the time of the appointment, and native or near-native
fluency in English as well as Korean or Japanese. Priority will be given to
those applicants who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and
