Description:

The University of North Texas invites applications for the assistant
professor position (tenure track) in linguistics with a specialization in
second language acquisition, Department of Linguistics and Technical
Communication, beginning fall 2011.

Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: a Ph.D. in
linguistics by the time of appointment; a specialization in second language
acquisition; and the ability to teach courses in second language
acquisition research methods, statistics, and/or experimental approaches to
second language acquisition. Preference is given to candidates with a
specialization in phonetics and/or phonology.

Job Description
As a tenure-track member of the faculty, candidates will be expected to
develop a record of scholarly research necessary to obtain tenure and to
regularly teach upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses. The typical
teaching load for junior faculty is 2/2.

The University of North Texas is an emerging national research institution
located in the vibrant and rapidly expanding Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan
area and situated close to DFW International Airport. University enrollment
is over 36,000 students with more than 7,700 graduate students. The
university offers 246 undergraduate and graduate majors and concentrations.
