Hello all,

I'm new here (this is my first post), as I was directed here from another 
mutli-language website.

I am an MA Applied Ling student, and part of my assessment is, 
naturally, research and research methodology. I am interested in 
designing a research project for a topic in Second Language 
Acquisition.

My intent was to take a look at how L3 learning impacts on unstable L2 
proficiency/performance. Specifically I am interested in the  
pronunciation of /th/ in English by L1 Chinese Mandarin speakers who 
are now learning French or German (/th/ changes to /t/ or /d/) as an 
L3. All Chinese school students learn English as an L2 from the early 
grades, and it is now a big market for Native Speakers of English to 
teach kindergarten kids. Also, MA hopefuls in English or teaching must  
have learned a 3rd language as well. I actually work as an ESL teacher 
here at a university.

When I went researching, I found very little regarding the impact of the 
L3 on un-developed L2's. In fact, the only specific thing I found was 
Greissler's paper on Austrian high-school students:

Have I not searched the right places? Have I not used the right search 
terms? Or, has there really not been a lot of research on the subject 
(which I would have thought very unusual!)?
