Senior Lecturer, Director of the Basic Language Program in Spanish
Second Language Acquisition and/or Foreign Language Pedagogy

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Indiana University seeks a
director for the basic language program in Spanish. Three-year renewable
contract as Senior Lecturer. Duties involve maintenance and development of
curriculum, training of lecturers and graduate student instructors, and
oversight of all course supervisors, lecturers, and graduate student
instructors assigned to teach in the basic language program. Qualifications
should include: PhD in second language acquisition and/or foreign language
pedagogy; native or near-native knowledge of Spanish and English; proven
experience teaching Spanish at the college/university level and supervising
and/or directing a basic language program; commitment to innovation and
excellence in foreign language pedagogy theory and methodologies;
willingness to collaborate in development of curriculum and instructor
training activities, as well as in the articulation of programmatic and
departmental goals. Must have experience with computer-assisted language
instruction and technology in the classroom. Professional engagement within
Indiana University and beyond is expected.
