Description:

Doctoral assistant position in the English Department of the University of
Geneva 

Starting date: 1 February 2011. 

Specifications: Applicants must have an MA (or equivalent degree) in
linguistics or in English (with a specialisation in linguistics). Advanced
skills in English are required. Applicants are expected to have their
research interests in the field of syntax. Preference will be given to
candidates whose research focuses on English historical syntax and/or
comparative Germanic syntax.

Duties: Teaching in English linguistics (3 hours per week), contribution to
administrative tasks, doctoral research. 

Terms of employment: Two-year contract, renewable twice for periods of two
years and one year respectively, for a total of five years. 70% in the
first two years, full time in the remaining three years. Salary: 46'153 CHF
(ca. 35'000 EUR) per year before taxes in the first year, rising to 78'371
CHF (ca. 59'000 EUR) in the final year.
