Meeting Description:

With the rapid advancement of computer technology, language teaching and learning have undergone rapid and phenomenal transformation from traditional classroom settings to computer mediated environments. Many advanced computer-based tools have been devised for language teaching and learning, just as many useful multimedia, technical and web resources have become available. The word 'Chinese' in this conference can be understood in 2 ways: (1) Chinese is the language to be taught/ learnt; (2) Chinese is the target learners, and the size of target beneficiaries of the conference is exceptionally large.

Registration Fee (including proceeding & meals):

l. Early bird (before 1 September 2011):

A. Paper/poster presentation or panel/workshop: US$200 (student rate (with proof): US$100)
B. Demonstration: US$650 (including 2 registrations and a booth)

2.  On-site:

Paper/ poster presentation: US$250 (student rate (with proof): US$125) 

Call for Papers:

Topics of abstracts, panel proposals or product demonstration include, but not limited to, the following:

A. Language-based topics:

A1. Learning Modern Standard Chinese by speakers of Chinese
A2. Learning Chinese dialects by speakers of Chinese
A3. Learning foreign languages by speakers of Chinese
A4. Learning Modern Standard Chinese by speakers of minority languages in China
A5. Learning Modern Standard Chinese by non-Chinese speakers
A6. Language learning and assessment of typical and atypical children and adult language users
A7. Neural and cognitive basis of language development
A8. Theoretical frontiers of language learning and teaching

B. Technology-based topics:

B1. Computer-aided/assisted/mediated language learning
B2. Data mining applications in E-learning
B3. Corpus-based modeling of language learning and teaching
B4. Computer-aided language assessment
B5. Online language testing and evaluation
B6. Web-based and online social network language learning technologies
B7. Application of Cloud computing in digital language learning and teaching
B8. Innovative approaches to language learning and teaching

Presentation Types:

(1) Paper/poster presentation on theoretical, empirical, methodological or evaluative approaches or other themes relevant to the conference. Historical reviews are however not preferred.

(2) Panel/workshop on themes relevant to the future development of language learning and teaching in the Chinese context.

(3) Demonstration on products relevant to language learning and teaching in the Chinese context.

Submission:

1. Anonymous, maximally 1-page abstract/ product synopsis/ panel or workshop proposal, written in English or Chinese, should be submitted as MS Word or PDF attachment via email to icclldta at gmail.com by 6 June 2011.

2. The subject line of the email message should read: 'abstract/synopsis/proposal' followed by the (first) author's last name and first initial. The body of the email message should provide the following information:

(a) Type (paper/poster/panel/workshop/demonstration)
(b) Theme (A1-A8; B1-B8)
(c) Full title of the abstract/product synopsis/panel proposal
(d) Name(s) of the author(s)
(e) Affiliation(s) of the authors
(f) Contact information of the authors

3. Maximally one single-authored abstract and one co-authored abstract may be submitted per person.

4.  Notification of acceptance to be sent via email by 15 July 2011.

5.  Full paper for conference proceeding to be submitted by 3 October 2011.
