Abstract:

Generalmente, el estudio de las relaciones entre Lengua y Género se ha 
centrado en la descripción de numerosas diferencias en las formas de habla 
e interacción de las mujeres y los hombres. En contraste con esta trayectoria 
"tradicional", en los últimos años se viene defendiendo la importancia de 
abandonar la exaltación de las "diferencias de género" en el discurso, 
prestando igual atención a las semejanzas o elementos comunes que 
también pueden reconocerse en los patrones comunicativos de las mujeres y 
los hombres, con el fin de evitar la perpetuación de los estereotipos. 

El presente libro trata de contribuir a esta nueva perspectiva, a través del 
análisis de datos de conversación femenina y masculina que se desarrollaron 
en situaciones "naturales", y que se centran comúnmente en una actividad 
comunicativa estereotípicamente "femenina": la producción de quejas por la 
conducta de terceras personas. A lo largo de este análisis se identifican los 
principales rasgos de realización de este género conversacional: la 
representación escénica de los acontecimientos, la censura moral y 
argumentada de los comportamientos que se rechazan y el despliegue de 
indignación ante los hechos, en el que se destaca el estilo más "agresivo" y 
"poderoso" de los hablantes masculinos, frente a los recursos de 
intensificación afectiva empleados específicamente por las participantes 
femeninas. Estas diferencias de estilo se interpretan como despliegues de 
masculinidad y feminidad, que no deben oscurecer el hecho de que tanto el 
discurso de las mujeres como el de los hombres en el corpus analizado se 
orienta hacia la construcción de fuertes lazos de solidaridad en contra de 
terceras personas, una meta interaccional que sólo se relaciona 
estereotípicamente con la conversación femenina. A. Virginia Acuña Ferreira 
es Licenciada en Filología Hispánica por la Universidad de Vigo (1997) y 
Doctora en Filología Hispánica por la misma universidad (2007). 
Especializada en el estudio de las relaciones entre género y discurso en la 
conversación cotidiana, ha publicado varios artículos sobre este tema en 
revistas especializadas y es autora del libro Género y discurso Las mujeres y 
los hombres en la interacción conversacional (Lincom, 2009).
