Meeting Description:

The fifth annual meeting of the Arizona Linguistics Circle will be held October 28-30, 2011 on the campus of the University of Arizona.

The Arizona Linguistics Circle is a graduate-student-run conference held every year since 2007 on the campus of the University of Arizona. Each year a different theme is chosen with the intent of fostering deeper investigation into a particular area of inquiry, but papers from all areas of linguistics are welcome. Our goal is to provide a welcoming yet constructive environment for linguistic inquiry and the dissemination of new and continuing linguistic research.

This year, we will have two special sessions:

- Middle Eastern Languages
- Experimental Linguistics

Invited Speakers:

- Mark Aronoff (Stony Brook)
- Hagit Borer (USC)
- Natasha Warner (UA) 

Call for Papers:

Abstracts from all areas of linguistics are welcome. If you would like your abstract to be considered for one of our special sessions (1. Middle Eastern Languages, 2. Experimental Linguistics), please indicate that in your abstract submission. 

Abstracts are invited for:

- 20-minute talks with a 10-minute question period to follow
- A poster session

Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint abstract per author. 

Conference proceedings will be published in Coyote Papers: Working Papers in Linguistics.

Abstracts should be anonymous and in PDF form, a maximum of two pages including examples, figures and references (with 1-inch margins on all sides and 12-point font size, preferably in Times New Roman). Any non-standard fonts should be embedded in the PDF format. All abstracts should be emailed to arizonalinguisticscircle5 at gmail.com. In the body of the text, please indicate the following information:

- Your name
- Affiliation
- Whether you'd like your abstract to be considered for an oral talk or a poster session
- Whether you'd like it to be considered for either special session

Submissions by graduate students are particularly welcome.

Submission deadline: September 17, 2011
Notification of acceptance: September 26, 2011
Conference dates: October 28-30, 2011
