Computer scientist in the Heathcare Research organization working on a 
state of the art evidence based medicine and clinical decision support 
system in collaboration with IBM based on the Watson technology.

Major duty is to integrate medical data sources, run experiments, perform 
error analysis, to engage with Nuance Watson Core team, IBM Watson JDA 
team and Nuance application development teams.

-  Research objective is to build a state of the art evidence based medical 
decision support system as part of the Nuance DeepQA healthcare team in 
collaboration with IBM Research. 
-  This research will focus on how to transform the IBM Watson DeepQA 
Question and Answer architecture to applications in healthcare. Since it will 
leverage large corpora and external medical data sources, this position will be 
responsible for augmenting the existing corpora and training and test set 
development.
-  Another aspect of this work is to identify and prepare data for training and 
testing different components of natural language processing systems, 
including segmenting and document structuring, POS tagging, syntactic 
parsing, word sense disambiguation, semantic tagging and interpretation, 
normalizing extracted facts to standard code systems with or without 
underlying hierarchies and system confidence estimation.
-  Content acquisition and analysis is to be conducted in the context of 
building a scalable, commercializable medical decision support systems on 
top of available in-house resources and technologies - such as Ontologies, 
parsers, taggers etc.
-  In addition to data processing some amount of work would be required in 
acquisition and processing of knowledge sources such as lists, catalogs, 
drug data bases, Ontologies, semantic networks etc.

Qualifications:

1)  Number of Years of Work Experience: 2+
 
2)  Required Skills:
-  Experience working with processing large data corpora and information 
retrieval is required
-  Programming experience in one of these languages is required: JAVA, 
C++, PERL, Python
-  Bash/Unix scripting skills are required
-  SQL or other Database knowledge is highly desirable
 
3)  Preferred Skills:
-  Experience in medical text analytics and/or clinical information retrieval is a 
definite PLUS
-  In addition to the above techniques, research experience in machine 
learning, stochastic parsing, semantic tagging, rule based and expert 
systems, logic programming and confidence estimation techniques is 
desirable
-  Experience working with UIMA is a definite PLUS
 
4)  Education:
-  Masters in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics or equivalent
