We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at

The MA students in our Syntax I and Phonology I will have iPads to use
in their courses this semester. They'll be using them to read papers for
the course that are available in PDF format, but we would like to make
even better use of the technology if possible. It seems to me that the
iPad touch interface could be used to create Apps for doing things like
constructing trees, reordering and testing OT constraints and things
like that. In my searches thus far, I haven't found any such Apps, so I'm
turning to this list: does anyone know of Apps for the iPad created
specifically to do or teach linguistics? Does anyone have experience
using more general iPad Apps to do things that could be useful in an
introductory syntax or phonology course? I will of course compile a list
of any resources I hear about and repost it to the list.

thanks and best,
Tom McFadden
