The Fifth International Conference on Formal Linguistics will be held on Dec. 10-11, 2011, at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou, P. R. China. The conference theme includes:

- Biolinguistics
- Language disorders

Call for Papers:

We are pleased to announce that the Fifth International Conference on Formal Linguistics will be held on Dec. 10-11, 2011, at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou, P. R. China. The conference, initiated by Hunan Normal University in 2001 and hosted by Hunan University and Beijing University of International Studies in 2002, 2005 and 2009, respectively, aims to provide a platform for formal linguistics researchers and postgraduate students to exchange their ideas and new findings in theoretical and empirical studies in generative framework. We welcome submissions of the following topics:

- Syntax 
- Semantics
- Phonology
- Morphology
- First and Second Language Acquisition
- Biolinguistics
- Language disorders

Each paper will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion. Each individual can maximally submit one single-author paper and one joint paper. Selection of papers will be based on anonymous review of abstracts. 

Abstracts can be written in either English or Chinese and limited to one single-spaced A4 page, including examples and bibliography. Please use 'Times New Roman' for English and 'SimSun' for Chinese throughout, both of 12-pt font size. 

Please send two copies as attachments by e-mail to icfl5 at yahoo.com. The first copy should be an Microsoft Word document with the following information: (i) author's name(s); (ii) affiliation(s); (iii) email address(es). For reviewing purposes, the second copy should be an anonymous PDF document with the above information deleted. Please note that postal submissions ARE NOT accepted.

Notification of acceptance:  Sept. 30, 2011
