Meeting Description:

Workshop in Constraint Grammar Applications in conjunction with NoDaLiDa 2011
Riga, Latvia, May 11th 2011

http://giellatekno.uit.no/cg/11/

Within full-scale parsing applications, constraint grammar is the dominant framework for parsing Nordic languages. It is used in the industry, and it also constitutes the fundament for several academic projects aiming at corpus tagging, treebanks and pedagogical programs.

The last years have seen extensions of CG usage along several lines: CG has been successfully put to use in machine translation for several language pairs, and it has been used for grammar checking and dialogue systems.

Call for Papers:

Topics:

All topics related to constraint grammar are of interest. We will especially be interested in the following themes:

1. CG-based applications
-Corpus linguistics
-Grammar checking
-Machine translation
-etc.

2. Evaluation
- Rule evaluation
- Technical performance (speed, e.g.)
- Linguistic performance (precision, recall) and evaluation

Format of the Workshop:

The workshop will consist of two parts:

1. Tutorial on CG rule writing, including a discussion on technological potential and perspectives
2. Main section with ordinary talks

Submission of Papers:

We invite extended abstracts (approximately 1500 words) describing existing research connected to the topics of the workshop. Submissions are non-anonymous and should include: title; author(s); affiliation(s); and contact author's e-mail address, postal address, telephone and fax numbers.

Abstracts should be sent to the mail address available on the workshop web pages.
