Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Call Deadline: 25-Feb-2011

Meeting Description:

The Undergraduate Linguistics Association of Britain (ULAB), in collaboration with the Edinburgh University Linguistics and English Language Society invites all students, whether at the undergraduate or post-graduate level, to a two day conference which will be held at the University of Edinburgh on the weekend of 26-27 March 2011, with an opening night on Friday 25 March.

ULAB was founded this year with the intention of bringing together students of linguistics and related disciplines in the UK in an academic setting, to present and discuss undergraduate research, and to foster community among like-minded students. The conference is an opportunity for students to present in a friendly and supportive environment and will be ideal for those who are unfamiliar with public speaking.

Call for Papers:

Abstracts of no more than 500 words are invited on any topic in linguistics. In addition to academic student papers we welcome presentations that highlight the work of student societies, or innovative individuals, in supporting their university's linguistics community or engaging their university or the public with issues in linguistics and language science.

The deadline for receipt of abstracts for oral presentations or poster presentations is February 25th, 2011.

Please submit them using the abstract submission form on the website: http://www.lingstudents.co.uk

Note that no late submissions will be accepted. All submissions will be anonymously peer reviewed.

All undergraduates are strongly encouraged to submit abstracts from private studies, original work, dissertations, or other relevant experiences.

The work for the presentations does not need to be complete by the deadline date for abstract submission. Graduate and PhD students are also encouraged to submit abstracts, but only on work completed as an undergraduate.
